In 2015, I needed a change in my life. I was ready for an adventure. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and accomplish something new. I did not know what or where, but I knew I had to travel. Soon after my sabbatical leave was approved by my school, I found out about this fundraising run across The Gambia. “The Nova Scotia Gambia Association is currently looking for a runner to take over this year run across The Gambia. If interested, apply within.” It did not take long before I sent my letter of interest! And the rest is history.
My Love4Gambia run is one of my greatest accomplishment in my life. That summer, I raised over 8000$ for the NSGA and then ran 25km a day, during 17 days, for a total of 425km. Afterwards, I volunteered for 2 months with the organization, giving a hand promoting health awareness in schools and communities. Not a bad start to my sabbatical! 😉
